It doesn't seem to matter how old my children are, or how sophisticated their tastes become, they love nothing more than playing with good old fashion play dough.
We haven't made any play dough in ages, so prompted by this post, we got the mixing bowls out at the weekend. Oscar took charge of the stirring and Ivy got stuck in with the colouring of the dough..
it took two days to clean up her hands.
Then the fun began. Homemade dough is so much nicer than the bought stuff, mainly because it doesn't have that awful smell. Also it feels wonderful to play with when it is freshly made and still warm.
The Babies have had their play dough cutters and rollers and those funny little arms and legs for about five years, they are very precious with their toys and look after them well. I think this little play dough reminder is going to be very useful over the long summer holidays.
Oh what a lovely post. I remember making microwave playdough when my girls were younger. My littlest one still loves it and she's nearly 9! Such great fun to make it rather than buying it. Love your blog! Lucy x

Your play dough looks like lots of fun. I always put the dye in with the water....well I do now. It took me lots of coloured palms to get to that point though!

Now that does look fun.

Oh yes, it is so soft and lovely when it is warm straight from the pot... what a great idea in the comments to add the dye in with the water, I will have to remember that! We experienced the colored palms as well : ) I like it natural colored the best!
